The Kano State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has handed over divisional officers attached to its Fagge Division to the police following the death of a suspect in custody at the local government divisional NSCDC office.
The State Commandant, Mohammed Hassan Agalama, approved the redeployment of the Divisional Officer, SC Amina Musa Kolawale, and appointed CSC Bashir Isa Abubakar as her replacement.
This development was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by the command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi. According to the statement, the decision followed the setting up of a panel of inquiry to investigate the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death.
It added that all officers and personnel on duty on Tuesday, January 6, 2026 including the affected divisional officer have been handed over to the Kano State Police Command for further investigation and necessary action.
The NSCDC appealed to members of the public to remain calm, assuring them of the corps’ commitment to the protection of lives, respect for human rights, and the promotion of professionalism, integrity, and the rule of law.
It can be recalled that a suspect Halifa Abdullahi was insider investigation on a missing N1.5 million and was arrested by men of the NSCDC Fagge division. Sources revealed that after 2 days of his arrest he was reported to have lost his life during investigation. However, the situation was reported to have became so tensed in the area that warranted the deployment of other security agencies to calm down the tension.
It was gathered that the body late Halifa was since released to his family and was buried.
