The Kano command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested six motorcycle thieves that specialize in violently attacking and snatching motor bikes.
The gang was arrested around Gurin Gawa and Bechi areas of Kumbotso local government of the state.
A statement issued and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the command, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, said the suspects named, Najib Lawal male aged 25 years, Bashir Bello Idris male 34years, Lawan Yakubu male 27 years, Kabiru Garba male 29 years, Hussain Hassan male 24 years and Mubarak Basiru male 21years, adding that two other members of the gang are at large.
“Two of the suspects, had earlier on the 14th January,2025 around 0300hrs forcefully broken into Malam Abdullahi Bala house at Gurin Gawa, Kumbotso local government, assaulted him and eventually made away with his bike. With the assistance of vigilante members and men of the Corps, Kumbotso division, the 2 attackers were successfully nabbed. Moreover, four additional suspects, among whom are 2 stolen motorcycle receivers are all in NSCDC net and 2 motor bikes have so far been recovered,” said the statement
The statement further stated that the state NSCDC Commandant, Mohammed Lawal Falala, has since directed the Armed Squad unit of the command to mobilize operatives for routine patrols around Eastern bypass to ward off criminals attack in the area and other places in the metropolis.
