The Kano state command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 11 suspected hoodlums allegedly involved in a violent disturbance in the Mariri area of Kumbotso Local Government Area of the state.
In a statement issued on Friday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SC Ibrahim Idris Abdullahi, on behalf of the State Commandant, the suspects were apprehended at about 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, 26 November 2025. They reportedly went on a rampage shortly after a local traditional festival, attacking residents with dangerous weapons and dispossessing them of their belongings.
The statement further revealed that the hoodlums also invaded a NSCDC outpost in Mariri, where they allegedly assaulted an officer, leaving him with a fractured injury.
The arrested suspects were identified as: Idris Muhd aged 20, Abubakar Shuaibu 24 years old, Sagiru Hassan Yusuf 25 years, Idris Muhammad Morata 25 years, Anas Rabiu aged 23, Yahaya Muhd Yahaya whose age is given to be 29, Khalid Idris 28 years, Mohd Adamu 19 years old, Muktar Auwal Muktar 22, Salim Muktar aged 18, and Saifullahi Nuhu 18 years.
Recovered items included six cutlasses, swords and a pair of scissors. According to the NSCDC, its Intelligence and Investigation Department has concluded preliminary findings, and the suspects will soon be charged to court.
