The Federal and state governments have been urged to deal with bandits according to the law.
The Northern Elders Forum made the call in a statement signed by its Director, Publicity and Advocacy, Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmad on Saturday.
Northern elders said “bandits who refuse to submit to mediation and cessation of criminal activities should be treated in accordance with the laws of the country.”
They said it has become obvious that the Federal Government cannot be courageous or lack the capacity to protect Nigerians against violent criminals.
The elders said the abduction will destroy education in the North, particularly girl-child education.
