Governors in the North-West have declared that they would not negotiate with bandits.
Governor Ahmed Aliyu of Sokoto State stated this in Katsina State during the opening of a new road project, saying they have agreed to tackle insecurity and are investing heavily to do so.
According to the governor, “We will not negotiate with any criminal, nor will we accept any offer from them unless they surrender unconditionally.”
Aliyu told people of the region that state governments are working closely with security agencies to end banditry.
He appealed to the communities to report informants and suspicious movements.
“We must do the needful at the community level by remaining vigilant and monitoring the movement of suspicious individuals,” Aliyu said.
