Progressives Congress (APC) North- East stakeholders meeting ended in chaos over endorsement of President Bola Tinubu without his deputy Kashim Shettima.
The National Vice Chairman of the ruling party in the North-East, Mustapha Salihu, did not announce Mr Shettima while endorsing Mr Tinubu for a second term.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that a video clip shows a very rowdy chaotic scene at the venue with many delegates shouting stop of their voices.
It was learnt that aggrieved stakeholders threw chairs and other objects into the crowd to protest the omission of Shettima during the endorsement of Tinubu.
The meeting, held in Gombe State, had all ministers, lawmakers, and governors of the party from the region in attendance.
The National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, also led some key personalities to the event.
When Salihu spoke, he endorsed Tinubu to emerge as an unopposed candidate of the APC but did not announce Shettima.
The moment he finished his speech, Participants at the forum started to hurl insults at Salihu after he ended his speech skipping Shettima.
Some of the delegates threatened to attack him physically, but security operatives provided cover for Salihu who was escorted out unharmed.
The endorsement of both both Tinubu and Shettima for a second term by Deputy National Chairman of the party, Bukar Dalori, calmed down the chaos.
Vice President Shettima is from Borno, one of the states in the North-East region.
Also the endorsement of Tinubu meeting by the National Chairman, Abdullahi Ganduje, who also failed to mention Shettima along abruptly ended the meeting., without Shettima.
For the ten minutes Ganduje spoke, he did not also mention Shettima’s name.
Like Salihu, Ganduje was escorted out of the venue by security operatives.
