The Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) in Plateau, Chief Rufus Bature, has said the state Government House is not vacant just as he inaugurated heads of the 16 gubernatorial campaign directorates of the party ahead of the 2023 elections.
The State Publicity Secretary, Mr. Sylvanus Namang, revealed this in a statement on Thursday in Jos, quoting Bature as charging the heads and members to campaign vigorously for the party to win the elections from top to bottom.
The chairman stated that while other parties were angling to reclaim power, the APC wants to retain power.
He said there is no vacancy in Government House, Jos, as the party would use its numerical strength to win the election.
“The journey is going to be tough and rugged but the party is going to triumph,” he said.
The governorship candidate, Dr Nentawe Yilwatda, in his remarks, congratulated those who made the list which is a product of a very painstaking, diligent and strategic selection.
Yilwatda said the list of the campaign directorates being unveiled was drawn up after a tripartite committee set up by the governor, who is the leader of the party, submitted its report.
He expressed optimism that the party would win the election, given the efforts that have so far been put in place.
“We are going to leave no stone unturned and with God on our side, we are going to win as we have the people behind us.
“I want specifically to appreciate APC State Chairman, Chief Rufus Bature, for consolidating the party at the ward, local government and state levels,” he said.
To herald the campaigns, Yilwatda said that he interacted with different strata of Plateau community in form of thank you visits and citizens engagement at multiple spots in the 17 local governments.
He revealed that the governorship campaign would be flagged off in Wase very soon, to be followed by the ones for the Central Senatorial District in Pankshin and Northern Senatorial District in Jos South.
The Director of Policy, Research and Strategy, Prof. John Wade, appreciated the party and candidate for finding them worthy to serve in the different directorates.
Wade said that they would work assiduously to ensure victory for the party at all levels.
The director added that they would face their opponents courageously and would embark on issue-based campaigns devoid of sentiments which is the hallmark of the opposition parties.
