The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) executive members in Gargari Ward of Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area, Kano State, have announced the removal and expulsion of the party’s state chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa.
The decision was reached at the ward’s second executive meeting held shortly after the general election, where 27 executive members unanimously endorsed a resolution against Dungurawa. The meeting was presided over by the Ward Chairman, Shuaibu Hassan, alongside the ward secretary, Yahaya Saidu Dungurawa.
According to the resolution, the state chairman was removed over allegations bordering on fostering division within the party, instigating internal crises, failure to remit party dues, and making what were described as abusive remarks against the Kano State Governor.
The ward executives said such actions were unacceptable and harmful to the unity, image, and growth of the NNPP, stressing that discipline and internal harmony must be protected at all levels of the party. They maintained that the decision was taken in line with the provisions of the party’s constitution and due process.
However, the ward leadership stated that copies of the resolution have been forwarded to the party’s local government, state, and national Secretariat for further action.
They reaffirmed their loyalty to the NNPP leadership under Senator Kwankwaso and pledged continued support for the Kano State Governor, while reiterating their commitment to peace, unity, and the overall progress of the party.
The sacking of the state party Chairman is coming in the wake of the NNPP ‘s alleged plan in the state to shift to APC.
