Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai says the protest by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in the state is akin to banditry and kidnapping.
El-Rufa’i said this in a statement on his Twitter page on Tuesday .
He said while bandits illegally use arms, the NLC protest is for similar ends, which he said has held the state hostage and disrupted citizens’ means of livelihood.
NLC began a five-day warning strike in the state, following the sack of 4,000 workers by the state government.
He said “efforts to dress up criminal activity as industrial action do not change the reality of law-breaking that has unfolded, including their persistently ignoring the prohibition against impeding essential services.
“Also, Kaduna State government cannot ignore the illegal pressures brought to disrupt the operations of banks and other private businesses whose staff and customers do not have any industrial dispute with the state or any other government,” he tweeted.
