Nine people have died in an accident at Kyaramma village in Ringim Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
The accident involving two Golf 3 saloon vehicles occurred on Saturday at about 2 pm, and left several other persons injured.
The Jigawa State Police Command spokesperson, Shiisu Adam, who revealed this, added that the vehicles had a head-on collision head-on, resulting in the fatal crash.
Adam said one of the vehicles, with registration number Kaduna MKA 687 AY, was driven by Adamu Sunusi, a 35-year-old man from Hadejia LGA, and heading to Gujungu town from Abuja.
The other vehicle, with registration number KWL 606 KA, was driven by Bashari Danjummai, a 30-year-old man from the Sauna Area, Nasarawa LGA, Kano State, who was heading to Kano from Hadejia.
According to Adam, said “The injured victims were rushed to Ringim General Hospital for treatment,” adding that the two drivers were among the nine who died in the crash.
“Eleven passengers are currently receiving treatment at the hospital and are responding well. Efforts are underway to identify all victims and notify their families,” said the statement.
The police, therefore, assured the public that further updates would be provided as the investigation progresses.
