Nine House of Representatives members from Kano State on Tuesday defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Those who defected are Ghali Mustapha (Ajingi/Albasu/Gaya federal constituency), Shehu Bello (Fagge federal constituency), Dankawu Idris (Kumbotso federal constituency), Hussain Hassan Shehu (Nassarawa federal constituency), Rabiu Yusuf (Sumaila/Takai federal constituency), Garba Chiroma (Gezawa/Gabasawa federal constituency), Ibrahim Mohammed (Gwale federal constituency), Tijjani Jobe (Tofa/Dawakin-Tofa/Rimingado federal constituency), and Aliu Madaki, deputy minority leader (Dala federal constituency).
The Speaker of the House, Tajudeen Abbas, announced this at Tuesday’s plenary.
The lawmakers, in separate letters to the Green Chamber, said they were leaving the NPP due to internal issues.
Governor Abba Yusuf, Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin; and a former Governor of Kano State, Abdullahi Ganduje, among others, witnessed the defection.
