The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has stated that Nigeria’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 4.43 per cent year-on-year in real terms in the second quarter of 2026.

This represents a 0.20 percentage-point increase, up from the 4.23 per cent recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025.

According to the NBS, the agricultural sector recorded stronger growth during the quarter, while services also expanded. However, industrial growth slowed significantly compared with the corresponding period in 2025.

“Agriculture grew by 4.39%, an improvement from the 2.82% recorded in the corresponding quarter of 2025,” the NBS stated.

The industry sector, however, grew by 3.96% in Q2 2026, down from 7.46% in Q2 2025.

“The growth of the industry sector stood at 3.96% from 7.46% recorded in the second quarter of 2025,” it said.

The NBS further stated that the services sector recorded the strongest growth among the three major sectors, expanding by 4.60% during the quarter, compared with 3.94% in the same quarter of 2025.

“The services sector recorded a growth of 4.60% from 3.94% in the same quarter of 2025,” the NBS said.
