The Nigeria civil service is populated by corrupt, nonchalant and undisciplined personnel, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Police Affairs, Abubakar Ismail, has said.
He said this on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Police Service Commission (PSC) Inter-Ministerial Committee, in Abuja.
Ismail who is also the secretary of the PSC, however urged members of the Inter-Ministerial Committee to work to change the narrative through hard work, creativity and transparency.
“You must be honest, hardworking and loyal Public Servants in order to change the general perception of the Civil Service out there,” he said.
“I hope that the Ministerial Committee, with the necessary support from management will meet our expectations and deliver optimally on its onerous mandate.”
Chairman of PSC, Musiliu Smith, a retired Inspector General of Police, said the commission was ready to partner with SERVICOM to bring sanity in the ways and means government business is being conducted in Nigeria.
He said PSC was committed to improving service delivery in the public sector to ensure that services in the Commission are citizen friendly and in line with established rules and regulations.
