The Niger State House of Assembly says it is set to amend the anti-kidnapping law to provide stiffer punishment for people who indulge in the crime and their informants to bandits.
The House Speaker, Abdullahi Bawa Wuse, said this when he led other members to sympathize with the Governor on the recent abductions in the state.
He said the House will commence the amendment of the law next week.
Bawa urged the government to reinforce meetings with traditional leaders and give them a marching order to monitor the influx of strangers into their communities.
He said the House is ready to render any help that will bring an end to the security challenges in the state.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello said the government is doing everything possible to ensure the release of all the people abducted by bandits in the state.
