Again, efforts by the Abubakar Bukola Saraki-led Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suffered a set back as a faction in Niger State rejected a recommendation made by the committee.
It would be recalled that a faction of the PDP in Ogun State loyal to late Senator Buruji Kashamu, rejected a claim by the Saraki committee that there was a reconciliation between them and the other group.
The Saraki committee has recommended that both leaders of the two factions in Niger State Tanko Benji and Mukhtar Ahmed should step down from their posts for resolution of the crisis in the party.
Media Officer, Yahaya Mohammed Usman of the faction headed by Benji, in Minna said their group might head to court to contest the decision “to strengthen the party’s constitution and obedience to rule of law and democratic tenets.”
The PDP state congress that had two main contestants Tanko Benji, outgoing Chairman of the party seeking a second term, and Alhaji Mukhtar Ahmed was postponed due to violence that stalled the exercise.
The faction described the recommendations as inconceivable, unheard off and cannot stand common sense nor logic.
