A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Alhaji Idris Mohammed Malagi, has called on politicians to refrain from spreading misinformation in the cause of their campaigns for elective positions in attempt to paint opponents in bad light.
The media entrepreneur said doing so could lead to anarchy and exacerbate tension in the state.
He spoke during an interface with the APC stakeholders in Minna, Niger State.
Malagi who is also a Public Relations practitioner, said campaigns should be issue-based, adding that all aspirants in the race for the state’s most coveted seat are brothers and should shun activities that would stoke the embers of discord among them.
He said what should be of utmost importance to the aspirants is how to unite and join hands to move the state on the path of development and growth.
“It is important to point out the fact that we are brothers and sisters from the same family and state. We all have good intentions to develop the state but this cannot be done in the situation of anarchy. Therefore, we must allow peace to reign by conducting ourselves decently throughout the electioneering campaigns,” he noted.
He said the support he enjoyed from party stakeholders so far was indicative of his acceptability, while calling on them to consolidate the gesture my ensuring he emerged as the standard bearer ahead of the 2023 governorship election in the state.
