Director General of the National Intelligence Agency Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar is to be formally turbaned as the Sardaunan Katsina on Saturday, December 31. The turbanning will be done by Emir of Katsina Alhaji Abdulmumini Kabir Usman at his palace in Katsina.
A statement by the Central Organising Committee said the ceremony will take place at 10am. Dignitaries from all over the country and abroad are expected to grace the occasion. The turbanning ceremony was preceded by a Charity Polo Tournament that took place at the Rubicon Polo Resort Centre, Idu, Abuja on December 27th and a Golf Tournament at the Katsina Golf Club on December 28. An inaugural conference with the theme Tradition and Modernity: Trends, Issues and History of Katsina was also held at the Conference Hall of Katsina Motel on December 29th and 30th.
Saturday’s turbanning ceremony will be followed by a traditional ceremony of durbars and other events to formally welcome the new traditional Commander-in-Chief of the Katsina military forces.
