Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmuminu Kabir Usman, has appointed the Director General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar, as the new Sardaunan Katsina.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the title became vacant following the elevation of Senator Ibrahim Ida to the position of Wazirin Katsina, the prime minister of the Emirate.
The title was previously held by a former Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Coomasie who died in 2018. It was after his death that Ida was appointed.
A letter personally signed by the Emir said the appointment followed Rufai’s “selfless services to the state and the country in general.”
The emir said an official date for the turbaning will be communicated later to the new Sardauna.
