President Bola Tinubu has called for the resolution of the crisis currently rocking ten state chapters of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) with a view to stabilising the party.

Tinubu, who made the call at the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the party in Abuja on Wednesday, asked the party’s NWC to set up a team to address the fault lines, appealing for calm during the peace talks.

Tinubu said there are a few conflicts in the various states, adding that “Let’s set up committees to look into the lingering problems in the states and appeal to these party leaders in various states to please be calm and be collaborative.”

The states currently embroiled in crisis include Kano State where the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Ata, has vowed to resign if Abdullahi Abbas retains his position as the state APC chairman; in Benue State, a power tussle is raging between Governor Hyacinth Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, which has deepened divisions in the state APC Chapter and in Lagos State, the APC is managing a leadership crisis within the state House of Assembly.

Crisis is also rocking the state chapters of APC in Adamawa, Delta, Rivers, Zamfara and Bayelsa as well as Osun State where the APC is stabilising after a group led by the former governor, Rauf Aregbesola, finally left the party.

The president said “we can only build the party on a progressive platform to deliver good service to Nigerians.

The President’s push for reconciliation follows an emerging crisis in at least ten state chapters of the APC as politicking begins ahead of the 2027 general polls.
The President received a vote of confidence and pledges to work harder for Nigeria’s prosperity.’

At the NEC meeting, Tinubu restated his commitment and determination to work harder for the country’s greater good, saying the Nigerian economy was on the path of recovery as the leadership cast a vote of confidence in him.

He said the commendation from the party’s highest decision-making organ was a call for more hard work. He promised not to fail the party faithful.

“I am happy with your vote of confidence, and I accept it. The vote is a challenge to do more work; we will vigorously pursue our sovereignty in food security, investment and development.”
