A drug kingpin suspected to be involved in the brutal killing of three officers of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Lekan Jimoh, popularly known as “Kanmo-Kanmo,” has been picked up after 12 years of hunting for him.
The agency’s spokesperson, Femi Babafemi said Jimoh, notorious for drug trafficking, evading arrest, and mobilizing armed thugs against security agents—was tracked to his hideout in Owode, Ogun State, on Friday.
Babafemi said the suspect was accosted with 69 kilogrammes of cannabis skunk during the operation.
According to the NDLEA, Jimoh’s criminal history is marked by extreme violence, adding that on June 15, 2014, he orchestrated a barbaric mob action against a team of officers attempting to arrest him at his enclave.
The attack, the Agency said, resulted in the cold-blooded murder of three of its officers, including one Rabiu Usman Kazaure.
The agency said the suspect escaped that day, but it remained resolute in its pursuit of justice for the fallen heroes.
Babafemi recalled an encounter with Jimoh on August 12, 2023, when operatives stormed his residence in Ado-Odo, Ogun State.
Although he managed to escape at that time, operatives recovered 139 sacks of skunk weighing a total of 1,922 kilograms, he said.
Following asset forfeiture proceedings instituted in court by the Agency, Babafemi said the house of the suspect in Ado-Odo, which served as a warehouse for his illicit trade, has since been permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.
