The Kano State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 230 individuals for alleged involvement in drug abuse, trafficking, and related offences during an intensive 30-day operation across the state.
Speaking to journalists in Kano on Friday, the State Commander, ACGN A. I. Ahmad, said the coordinated crackdown targeted major drug flashpoints, leading to substantial seizures of illicit substances such as cannabis sativa, EXOL-5, diazepam, codeine syrup, “suck and die,” and rubber solution.
Ahmad disclosed that operatives also recovered several locally made weapons from suspects during raids on identified drug hubs.
The operation covered Kofar Ruwa, Tashar Rami, Rijiyar Lemo, Kurna, Mil Tara, Zage, Dorayi Karshen Waya, Dawanau, Filin Idi, Research, Rimi Market, Zango, Kofar Mata, Kano Line, Ladanai, and other locations notorious for drug-related activities.

Describing the exercise as “a major breakthrough,” the commander said it forms part of ongoing efforts to restore public safety, safeguard youths, and weaken criminal networks fueled by illicit drugs.

He explained that the raids were conducted under the Kano State Joint Taskforce for Peace Restoration and Youth Rehabilitation, supported by multiple security agencies.
Ahmad reiterated the NDLEA’s resolve to maintain pressure on drug syndicates, emphasizing that the agency is committed to making Kano increasingly hostile to traffickers, abusers, and other criminal actors.

According to public commentators, the coordinated yield in the state has been yielding results. The state government had also in-state a committee that has been working round the clock to reduce the menace of drug abuse in the state.
