The Director General of Voice of Nigeria (VON), Mallam Jibrin Baba Ndace, has reaffirmed his commitment to elevating international broadcasting and content quality, aiming to position Voice of Nigeria (VON) as a global leader.
At a media briefing on Tuesday at VON’s headquarters in Abuja, Ndace announced a renewed partnership with Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC).
This partnership is set to enhance Swahili language broadcasts and foster bilateral relations through exchange programmes and personnel, content sharing, technological collaboration and cultural exchange initiatives.
A staff member from Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation is currently on a six-month exchange programme at Voice of Nigeria, further solidifying the partnership.
This collaboration sets the stage for exceptional programming, elevated broadcasting standards and strengthened ties between Nigeria and Tanzania.
The DG of Voice of Nigeria has made similar efforts in partnerships with countries like Egypt, Uganda, Sudan, Angola, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia. Currently, VON broadcasts in English, French, Arabic and Swahili and plans to expand its outreach to Mandarin (China), Bahasa Indonesia and Portuguese, in addition to Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo and Fulfulde languages.
The DG VON appreciated the commitment of Dr Ayub Rioba ChaCha for highlighting the mutual benefits of the partnership and the importance of cultural exchange in fostering understanding and unity across Africa.
The renewed partnership marks a significant milestone in creating a more connected and culturally rich African media landscape.
