Yobe State capital, Damaturu, is Saturday hosting the National Quranic recitation competition holding on Saturday.
Qur’an memorisers from the 36 states of Nigeria and the federal capital territory are participating in the
organized by the Nigerian branch of Mohammed VI foundation for African Ulama.
The Executive Secretary, Yobe State Arabic and Islamic Education Board (AISEB), Malam Umar Abubakar, who revealed this, said the one-day competition would engage the participants on proficiency in full Quranic memorization in warash.
The secretary local organizing committee, Prof Adam Mustapha Jatkawy, said the competition is aimed at nurturing Muslim youths in Nigeria and Africa on learning the holy book to shape their lives on earth and hereafter.
He said the Nigerian branch of organization headed by Mufti Sheikh Sheriff Ibrahim Saleh Al-Hussaini, also brought Ulamas (scholars) together to promote peace and strengthen Islam in Africa.
Jatkawy praised Governor Mala Buni for his “untiring efforts” in hosting various Quranic memorization and defending religious values.
