Dear Sir,
As you prepare to visit Taraba State on May 21, 2025, for the Taraba Investment Summit, I am writing to bring a pressing issue to your attention. Despite being far from home, my emotional connection to Taraba State remains strong as ever.
I welcome you to Taraba, aptly described as “Nature’s Gift to the Nation.” With its rich endowments in tourism, mining, agriculture, and more, Taraba holds immense potential for investment. However, numerous challenges have hindered the state’s progress. This I won’t bore you with for want of space and because it is not the reason for writing this letter.
The purpose of this epistle is Namnai bridge which collapsed in August 2024. The crumbled Namnai Bridge in Gassol Local Government Area is vital, connecting North East to North Central, and South East. This crucial bridge has been caved in for about a year, causing significant economic and social hardship. Despite being a federal trunk A road, no substantial action has been taken by the Federal government.
Local authorities and individuals have made efforts to intervene, but constructing a bridge worth billions of Naira requires a lot of funds to just start. With the rainy season underway, commuters face immense difficulties crossing the river, which should not be allowed to continue.
I humbly request that your administration considers reconstructing the Namnai Bridge as a matter that requires urgent attention to alleviate the suffering of travelers and unlock the state’s economic potential.
Namnai’s bridge reconstruction should be prioritised Mr President, ensuring that contract awards translate into tangible progress. We urge you to facilitate immediate mobilization to begin work.
Mr President please you should act and do so on time for the sake of the masses who are most affected by the bridge’s collapse in one way or the other. If this is the key present from your visit on Wednesday, Tarabans and millions of Nigerians who rely on this route will greatly appreciate it. There is little chance of you ever reading this letter. However, if it can get to the desk of any of your various aides or any official that can make things work, so be it. I look forward to seeing work commence on Namnai bridge earnestly.
