The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) on Friday closed four unregistered yoghurt factories in Kaduna.
The State Coordinator of the agency, Nasiru Mato, said the factories were closed during the agency’s surveillance activities in the state for lapses hinging on unsatisfactory good manufacturing practice, poor hygiene practice, and operating with expired license.
Mato said the monitoring exercise was part of measures put in place by the agency to ensure that only quality and wholesome products are produced, distributed, and sold to consumers.
He said dairy and water-based drinks are very sensitive products that need careful handling to avoid possible contamination.
