An aerial strike on Kurgi community in Mariga Local Government Area of Niger State hit the wrong targets killing two farmers and wounding scores including children.
According to locals, a military helicopter on surveillance hovered over the community for several minutes on Sunday before striking the locals in their homes.
A local, Suleiman Sanusi, revealed that the strikes had forced many people to desert their homes to Bangi town and other safer locations.
He said the bombing came as a surprise and unprovoked, and urged relevant authorities to urgently probe the incident and provide medical assistance to those injured.
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) and other relevant authorities had yet to make an official statement on the incident as at the time of filing this report.
