President Bola Tinubu has approved the redeployment of Musa Adar as the executive secretary of the Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI).
Adar will replace Ogbonnaya Orji, who has served in the capacity since 2021.
Director of information and public relations in the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Segun Imohiosen, who made the announcement in a statement, said the president redeployed and appointed officials in two agencies.
According to the statement, Adar was redeployed from his position as chairman of the National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA).
Mukhtari Shagari, who is a former minister of water resources, was appointed to replace him as chairman of NIWA.
“Both the redeployment and appointment take immediate effect,” the statement reads.
Tinubu urged the newly appointed and redeployed officials to be patriotic.
He also encouraged them to apply their wealth of experience in “strengthening transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery within their respective agencies”.
On October 19, Kayode Oladele, acting chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), said the Tinubu administration’s appointments are guided by the constitutional principles of equity and national balance.
Oladele noted that the north currently holds 56.3 per cent of federal leadership positions, while the south accounts for 43.7 per cent.
