MultiChoice Nigeria has announced that Nigerian Idol would return for Season Eight with online auditions as the first phase, following the success of Season Seven, which saw Progress Chukwuyem as winner.
Busola Tejumola, Executive Head of Content and West Africa Channels at MultiChoice Nigeria, made the announcement in a statement released on Tuesday in Lagos.
According to Tejumola, Nigerian Idol’s online auditions for the eighth season began on January 14 and finished on January 28.
She stated that the winner of Nigerian Idol season eight would also receive various awards in addition to a N30 million cash reward.
She suggested that intending contestants who must be ages between 16 and 28, must apply by sending a 30-second video to www.africamagic.tv because MultiChoice was still committed to showcasing young Nigerian talent in a variety of fields.
As we have done in prior rounds of the music talent competition, we are committed to helping and giving aspiring Nigerian musicians a platform to flourish and fulfill their dreams. The eighth season has the potential to surpass past seasons in size and excitement.
The executive producer stated, “We are looking for fresh talent that can carry a punch like our candidates in season seven did.” “Last year, Progress defeated Zadok in a fierce struggle, taking the victory,”she said.
Twelve outstanding contestants from the seventh season, according to Tejumola, advanced to the live presentations out of more than 40,000 applicants.
Season eight of Nigerian Idol will debut on DStv and GOtv in April. It is proudly sponsored by BIGI drinks and Tecno.
It will present an opportunity for more Nigerian teenagers to have their chance to shine, and she asked all prospective candidates to make sure they have a valid form of identification.
