A group of angry youths in Kokami village of Danja area in Katsina State on Saturday killed a shop keeper known as K.C Jones in retaliation for the killing of one Ibrahim Khalil Auwal by the shop keeper.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathers from local sources that Jones stabbed to death Ibrahim Khalil with scissors during a misunderstanding.
“We don’t know what Ibrahim went to do at the shop but few minutes after they started talking with Joe, an argument began and before we knew it, Joe brought out a scissor and stabbed Ibrahim with it,” a resident of Kokami told this reporter over the phone.
He said the victim was rushed to a hospital in nearby Dabai but was pronounced dead by medical workers.
“We were in Dabai when we heard that some of our younger brothers had started rioting. They went to Joe shop and started beating him. They eventually killed him before policemen arrived from Danja,” the source, who asked not to be named for security reasons.
When contacted, the police spokesman in the state, Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu said four suspects have been arrested in relation to the killing.
“Upon receipt of the report, quickly, a team of police operatives responded to the scene; family of the slain were evaluated for safety as normalcy was restored. Also, suspects were arrested in connection with the incident.
“The suspects are currently in custody, and investigations are ongoing. Further development will be communicated in due course, please” he said in a statement sent to 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
