The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC in Kaduna State has mixed up ballot boxes it allocated to various polling units.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE correspondent who monitored the elections in some areas reports that ballot boxes meant for Kabala Doki and Badarawa were discovered in Unguwan Shanu’s polling units 008 located on Kuriga Road and 015 located atthe Unguwan Shanu village head office.
Similarly ballot boxes marked State House of Assembly were sighted at polling unit 005 on Badarawa Road and polling unit 016 located at the Health Centre Unguwan Shanu.
Generally, voting process did not strat at most of these polling units until after 10:30 am. In fact voting procedure began at 12 mid day at the polling 036 located in front of the late Isa kaita residence and that of Unguwan Shanu village head office.
The late start of voting caused roadies at some polling units, that it took the intervention of security operatives to restore normalcy for voting to start.
According to the INEC supervisor at one of the polling units who would not want his name mentioned, officials of the commission at the Kaduna office were aware of the mix up.
He said they did not get election materials until late in the day, causing the delay in voting procedure.
Many of the voters wo had turned up to perform their civic responsibility expressed dismay at the delay, with some threatening that even if the 2:30 pm stoppage time for voting reaches, they would still insist on time extension so that they too can vote.
