Minister of State for Works and Housing, Engr. Abubakar D. Aliyu, has said the Kano- Kaduna- Kano highway reconstruction project would be completed on schedule.
The minister disclosed this on at the weekend during an inspection tour of 11 road projects in the northcentral, northwest and northeast that include the 375km Abuja – Kano highway.
Engr. Aliyu said he decided to travel on the roads to personally assess their level of completion and the quality of work being done, as President Muhammadu Buhari administration is keen in ensuring the timely completion of the projects.
“It is our policy not just to stay in Abuja and wait for updates from our staff and contractors. From time to time, I do personally travel on the roads and assess them first hand. As you can see now, I have inspected 11 road projects first hand from Thursday,” the minister said.
The minister, who started the inspection Thursday morning from Abuja, inspected a total of 11 road projects that include Abuja – Kaduna, Kaduna eastern bye pass, Kaduna-Zaria, Zaria – Kano, Kano western bypass, Dawano roundabout – Katsina border, Katsina border-Katsina, Kano – Shuwari, Shuwari – Azare, Azare – Potiskum, and Potiskum –Damaturu.
Accompanied by director of highway construction and rehabilitation, Engr. Adebiyi Olufunso, representative of Julius Berger Nig. Ltd; the minister inspected the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria-Kano dual carriageway in the FCT, Kaduna and Kano states on Thursday.
In Kaduna, the minister inspected a bridge at the Kaduna Eastern Bypass road being constructed by Eksiogullari Construction Ltd.
While in Kano, he also inspected the construction of Kano Western Bypass being handled by Dantata & Sawoe Construction Company (Nig) Ltd; and the dualization of Kano-Katsina road in Kano/Katsina state phase II, and Kano/ Katsina border under CCECC Nig Ltd.
