Men’s Olympics: Korea beats Honduras 6-0

Korea Republic advanced to the knockout stage of the competition after beating Honduras 6-0 in the team’s final match of the group stage.

Hwang Ui-Jo converted the penalty with a right-footed shot to the top left corner to give Korea Republic the lead 17 minutes into the game. The penalty was conceded by Wesly Decas after a foul on Lee Dong-Jun in the penalty area.

Won Du-Jae converted another penalty with a right footed shot to the center of the goal seven minutes after the first one to double Korea Republic lead in the first half.

Forty-one minutes into the game, Honduras was reduced to 10 men when Carlos Meléndez was shown a red card for a foul on Lee Dong-Jun.

Korea went to increase its lead to 3 before after time with Hwang Ui-Jo’s right footed shot from the center of the box to the top left corner.

Hwang Ui-Jo scored his hat trick when he converted the third penalty of the game with a right-footed shot to the top left corner.

Kim Jin-Ya increased the lead to 5 with a right footed shot from the left side of the box to the top right corner.

Lee Kang-In continued the onslaught with a left footed shot from outside the box to the bottom right corner to give Korea Republic a well-deserved 6-0 win over Honduras.

Other matches played, Côte d’Ivoire drew 1-1 with Germany to qualify for the knockout stage of the competition with 4 points in group D and Germany crashed out from the competition.

Brazil qualifies for the knock stage of the competition, the team emerge top in group D after defeating Saudi Arabia 3-1.

New Zealand advances to the knock stage alongside Korea Republic despite a goalless draw with Romania.

Egypt beats Australia 2-0 to advance to the knockout stage from group C with 4 points while Spain also qualifies from the same group despite 1-1 draw with Argentina.
