Negotiations between the camp of former Governor of Zamfara State, Abdul’aziz Yari and that of Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle for a consensus following the former’s recent defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC) is still open.
A stakeholder of the party in the state, Alhaji Sagir Hamidu, told newsmen in Abuja on Sunday that a tripartite meeting involving representatives of both camps and that of the APC governors would meet soon over the matter.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that meetings between both Yari and Matawalle groups in Kaduna on two occasions over the matter had ended in deadlock.
However, Hamidu, a two-time governorship aspirants and an associate of former Governor Yari, said APC governors have stepped in, nothing that a tripartite meeting would be summoned where all parties would present their cases soon.
Hamidu said the present crisis over Matawalle’s defection wouldn’t have arisen if due process was earlier followed in accepting him into the fold.
He also faulted the total handover of the APC structure in the state to the governor, noting that the development brought about the present disaffection by the stakeholders of the party including himself.
He said the APC stakeholders are insisting that the purported dissolution and transfer of party structure to the governor cannot stand.
