Zamfara State Governor Bello Matawalle says politicians have sabotaged the amnesty programme launched for bandits in his state.
Though a an advocate of amnesty for bandits, Matawalle later changed his stance, which he said was because politicians closed to the bandits brainwashed them not to acceptt government’s amnesty and reconciliation programme.
“We have some records. Some of the informants that were arrested, we have over 2000 informants in custody of security agencies, and some of them have opened up and indicted so many people,” he said.
“They said some of the politicians are the ones funding them, telling them the state and federal government are not serious on what we promise to them,” he said.
