The Katsina State Government has donated N50 million to popular Hausa political singer Adamu Abdullahi Rarara as financial assistance.
Also, the state donated N30 million a Hausa comedian Baban Chinedu.
This was contained in a memo signed by Saminu Muhammad K. Soli for the commissioner of Budget and Economic Planning of the state.
Titled, Special Release of Funds, and dated May 5, 2023, the budget ministry said the approval has been given for the release of the N80 million to the duo “as financial assistance” over the destruction of their residences in Kano after the March 2023 governorship election.
The letter reads: “I am directed to convey approval for the release of (N80, 000,000.00) only to the Accountant General payable to the Secretary to the Government of the State, Governor’s being KTSG Assistance to Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi Rarara and Baban Chinedu to secure alternative accommodation for their families in the aftermath of attacks by political miscreants on Monday, March 20, 2023 in Kano.”
The letter, which was copied to the SSG, (GO), the HC (MOC), the Auditor General, the Office of the Auditor General for the State; the Director, Main Account, Ministry of Finance, gave the vote of charge as 02200000100/220405.
Rarara’s residence and office was destroyed by thugs after Abba Kabir Yusuf of NNPP was announced as the winner of Kano state governorship elections. He defeated APC’s Nasiru Gawuna.
