Security agencies in Kano State have been told to be neutral and impartial in the upcoming Governorship and State Assembly election.
The Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero gave the advice when the Kano Peace Committee led by Abubakar Mahmoud, paid him a courtesy visit, on Wednesday in Kano.
Kano State is among seven states designated as hot spots to look out for in the forthcoming governorship and state assembly elections. The other states are Kaduna, Zamfara, Lagos, Gombe, Rivers and Bauchi.
It would be recalled that in the heat of the February 25 presidential and National Assembly, there were clashes in some areas which led to the death of some people. In one of the incidences, the Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Doguwa, was accused of leading thugs, who attacked and set on fire the office of the New Nigeria Peoples Party at Tudun Wada, Kano, where two people were also burnt to death during the collation of results of the presidential and National Assembly elections.
The lawmaker who was accused of shooting to death and injuring others during the raid on the NNPP Tudun Wada office was arraigned before a magistrate for culpable homicide, causing grievous hurt, mischief by firearm, and inciting disturbances.
Justice Muhammad Yunusa of the Federal High Court in Kano granted Doguwa bail in N500m and ordered that Doguwa must get two sureties who must be first-class emir and senior officers in civil service.
The court also ordered Doguwa to drop his passport with the court registry pending the conclusion of his trial.
