A 32-year-old man, Nwa-Aba, has been shot by personnel of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) in Calabar, Cross River State, for urinating opposite the state office of the corps.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that Nwa-Aba, a casual worker at a trailer park, was shot twice in his waist as he relieved himself about 50 metres away from the NSCDC office.
It was learnt that the victim was urinating at a spot when the Civil Defence personnel shot him in the waist, and was later rushed to the hospital, where he had been admitted.
The incident later ignited protests by some youths, who demanded justice for the victim. They were later dispersed by personnel of NSCDC.
Spokesperson of NSCDC, Solomon John, said the incident was being investigated.
He said the incident was witnessed by officers on night duty, as the incidents happened early Wednesday morning.
He said the personnel would be investigated, even though he refused to give his name.
John also said Nwa-Aba was rushed to the hospital after the incident, and was responding to treatment.
