Nigeria Police say it has arrested a 20-year-old man, Abubakar Amodu, for kidnapping his father and demanding N2 million as ransom.
Force Public Relations Officer, CP Frank Mba said Amodu was among 25 persons arrested by the police for various offences in Abuja recently.
BBC reports that Amodu told journalists that his father has large herds of cattle, and that he had collected 15 cows from him.
It says Amodu also told journalists how he was influenced by his friends to kidnap his rich father, as they could make big money from the ransom they collected; adding that Amodu said he earned N200,000 out of the N1 million they have so far received as ransom.
