President of Ghana, John Mahama, who is being inaugurated on Tuesday for a second made a speech error referring to Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu as Ghana’s.
The slip occurred during his inauguration speech.
“Your excellency, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, president of the Federal Republic of Ghana,” Mahama said while acknowledging dignitaries at the event.
The slip elicited reactions on social media.
A sarcastic Ghanaian, @kwameforson, wrote: John Mahama announces his co-president, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Ghana. He’ll be ruling hand in hand with him.
“Did anyone else hear that President Mahama mistakenly referred to Nigeria’s President Tinubu as the President of Ghana? He has started again,” an X user said.
Another X user @BYKAdanko wrote: Mahama just called Tinubu President of the Federal Republic of Ghana …we’re doomed.
Tinubu Monday left Abuja for Accra, the Ghanaian capital, to attend Mahama’s inauguration.
Presidential spokesperson Bayo Onanuga, said the trip was at the invitation of the president-elect.
