Governors of Sokoto, Kaduna and Kebbi states, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and Atiku Bagudu as well as the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar were among the dignitaries that attended the funeral of Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba, who died in Kaduna on Saturday.
The Chief Imam of Sultan Bello Mosque, Sheikh Malami Affara, led the funeral prayer which took place around 6pm at the premises of the mosque.
Subsequently, his remains were buried at their family’s cemetery at Binanchi in the state capital.
The remains of Danbaba was flown to Sokoto by a Nigerian Air Force aircraft. It was accompanied by Governor El-Rufai.
Former Sokoto State Governor Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko mourned the late Magajin Garin Sokoto.
In a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Hassan Sahabi, Wamakko described late Magajin Gari as distinguished gentleman and respected traditional ruler who contributed immensely to the development of Sokoto Caliphate, and the nation, in general.
