President Emmanuel Macron of France has urged the international community to extend support to Nigeria in tackling surging insecurity in the country.
Macron revealed he had reached out to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, adding that France is standard with Nigeria.
He has reached all the partners to see what help they can render to Nigeria, as they cannot afford to remain spectators.
He wrote: “I spoke with President Tinubu of Nigeria, @officialABAT. I conveyed France’s solidarity in the face of the various security challenges, particularly the terrorist threat in the North.
“At his request, we will strengthen our partnership with the authorities and our support for the affected populations. We call on all our partners to step up their engagement. No one can remain a spectator.”
There has been an upsurge in attacks leading to kidnapping and killings of students in Nigeria, especially in the North recently.
This has forced the Federal and state governments to close unity schools and other public and private schools in the North.
The surging insecurity has forced Tinubu to declare state of emergency on insecurity in the country.
