Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Revolution, strongly condemns the desecration of the Holy Qur’an “under the banner of freedom of speech.”
On Wednesday, Ayatollah Khamenei’s statements were shared on the Leader’s Twitter account.
“The insane desecration of the Quran, which is committed under the slogan of freedom of speech, shows the Arrogant Power’s attacks are aimed at Islam itself & the Quran,” read the Leader’s message.
“The Quran is shining more brightly every day & the future belongs to Islam despite the Arrogant Power’s plots,” the Leader’s message added, noting, “All freedom-seekers of the world should stand by Muslims in confronting the wicked plot of insulting sanctities and spreading hate.”
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has also strongly condemned the sacrilege in Sweden, calling it a blatant example of hate mongering and violence against Muslims.
Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian has stated that Western countries’ backing for these crimes in the name of free expression is “completely unacceptable.”
According to Nasser Kan’ani, the burning of one and a half billion Muslims’ sacred books is a blatant illustration of hate mongering and the spread of violence against all Muslims worldwide. Such measures have nothing to do with free speech or thought.“
Middle Eastern countries unanimously condemned the violation of the Holy Qur’an, with Jordan, Kuwait, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates, and Pakistan, among others, expressing their outrage.
Rasmus Paludan, a prominent Swedish-Danish extremist, gained permission from Sweden’s authorities on Saturday to burn the Muslim holy book in front of the Turkish Embassy in Stockholm.
Paludan was being shielded by Swedish police while perpetrating the blasphemy, which has sparked outrage throughout the Muslim world.
