Information and Culture Minister Lai Mohammed, says he raised the funds with which the All Progressives Congress (APC) prosecuted its campaign during the 2019 elections in Kwara State.
The minister said he did not divert the campaign funds made available by the party for the campaign as alleged by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
The governor had recently alleged that cabal within the party diverted millions of naira worth of donations meant to prosecute the elections in the state.
However, Mohammed said he raised N150 million to prosecute the elections from friends and associates.
Crisis within the party manifested when the minister unveiled a parallel office for his faction on Saturday.
Both the governor’s and a faction of the APC led by the minister had held a parallel rally to mark the two-year celebration of the party in power in the state.
While Governor Abdulrazaq’s faction has its party secretariat located at the Tanke area, the minister’s unveiled its secretariat at GRA, Ilorin.
The minister told supporters that APC will soon organise a fresh registration/revalidation of members in the state.
He said the recently concluded registration exercise conducted for members in the state was not genuine in that it did not capture every member of the party.
