A BRT bus went up in flames around Majidun along Ikorodu Road in Lagos, on Wednesday morning, wounding several passengers.
Passengers were immediately evacuated when the bus suddenly burst into flames while in motion, but were moved to safety.
Those who were injured were trapped while struggling to exit the bus.
There was no casualty in the incident.
Witnesses said the bus was travelling along the dedicated BRT corridor on Ikorodu Road when it suddenly caught fire.
An eyewitness, Shade Jimoh, said, “It was like a scene from a horror movie.
“The bus was moving, and then suddenly, flames started coming out from the engine compartment of the bus. People were screaming and running for their lives.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown.
An official of the State Fire and Rescue Service, Shakiru Amodu, confirmed the incident, saying the vehicle caught fire around 6.30 am, and rescue officials arrived at the scene around 7.01 am.
“The location of the fire incident is at Majidun Boma filling station. However, the situation is under control,” he added
