Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has named a son of NNPP Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections, Rabiu Musas Kwankwaso, Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso, and three others as commissioner-nominees.
The other three are Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, Abduljabbar Umar Garko, Shehu Sule Aliyu Karaye.
The Speaker of the State House of Assembly read a letter from Governor Yusuf seeking approval to appoint the four nominees as commissioners and members of the state executive council.
The letter reads in part,’’In accordance with the powers conferred on me by the Constitution of Republic of Nigeria and based on established procedure, I wish to request the kind consideration and approval of the Honourable House to appoint four Commissioners and members of the Executive Council.’’
‘’The request is hereby forwarded for approval by the Kano Assembly. Please accept the assurances of my esteemed regards and best wishes.
The speaker of the house, Jibrin Ismail Falgore who read the letter at plenary on Tuesday later announced the commencement of vacation of the house and its resumption on April, 2nd, 2024
The assembly is set to screen the nominees on April 2nd, 2024.
One of the nominees, Adamu Aliyu Kibiya, was a former Commissioner for Lands, who was suspended for making derogatory statements on elections petition tribunal judges.
Mustapha is the first son of Kwankwaso and brother-in-law to Governor Yusuf.
