The Kwankwasiyya Movement has firmly denied reports claiming that its leader, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is involved in negotiations talks with the All Progressives Congress (APC), describing the allegations as false, speculative and deliberately misleading.
In a statement signed by the Movement’s spokesperson, Dr Habibu Sale Mohammed, the group stated that Senator Kwankwaso has never engaged in discussions or negotiations with either APC as a political party nor President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, or any intermediary with the intention of defecting to the party.
“We want to state clearly and without any ambiguity that Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has never entered into negotiations, discussions or meetings with the APC for the purpose of defection to the party. These claims are entirely false and baseless,” the statement read.
However, the Movement expressed concern over what it described as the increasing spread of unverified reports and televised commentaries suggesting that Kwankwaso made demands as part of an alleged defection plan, warning that such narratives could mislead the public and damage the good reputations of the leader.
The statement urged the media to adhere to professional ethics by relying on verifiable facts and credible sources, rather than speculation or political gossip.
While trying to clear the air, the Movement explained that the last formal meeting between Senator Kwankwaso and President Tinubu took place in January 2024, stressing that no discussion on defection, political bargaining or party alignment occurred during that engagement.
Adding that Kwankwaso’s interactions with political leaders across party lines were normal in a democratic system and should not be misconstrued as evidence of political realignment without verified facts stressing that there were no negotiations and there were no demands made by the national leader.
