The rescue of 176 Kwara hostages from kidnappers den is a testimony of President Bola Tinubu’s painstaking efforts in securing the country.
This was revealed by the Director Finance, Hadejia Jama’are River Basin Development Authority (HJRBDA), Musa Iliyasu Kwankwaso.
The hostages were abducted on 3 February 2026 from Woro and Nuku communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The rescue carried out by the Nigerian troops brougt to an end the nearly six months of anguish for their families and communities.
The rescue was announced by Kwara State Government on Wednesday through its official Facebook page.
It described the rescue as a major breakthrough and commended President Tinubu, security agencies and everyone who contributed to the operation.
Mr Kwankwaso, in a statement on Thursday, urged the opposition to learn to appreciate federal government’s efforts in tackling security problems facing the nation.
The APC chieftain commended President Tinubu, the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the two Ministers of Defence and the Service Chiefs for their roles in rescuing the 176 Kwara hostages.
“This is a clear testament that sooner than later the menace of insecurity would be things of the past,” he said.
Mr Kwankwaso said northerners would show their appreciation to President Tinubu by voting for him massively during the 2027 presidential elections.
