The arrested Kogi State House of Assembly candidate Ismaila Atumeyi has been taken to Lagos for interrogation.
Spokesperson of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Wilson Uwujaren disclosed this on Wednesday.
Uwajaren said Atumeyi was flown to Lagos by another team of operatives at the Lagos Command of the EFCC.
The suspect was arrested in Abuja for alleged bank fraud.
The politician, was planning to represent Ankpa 11 Constituency in the State’s assembly under the platform of the New Nigerian Peoples Party.
Atumeyi was picked up on Sunday with one Joshua Dominic, a suspected serial fraudster.
They were ambushed in a sting operation at Macedonia Street, Queens Estate, Karsana, Gwarinpa, Abuja.
Atumeyi and the two others, Joshua Dominic and Abdulmalik Salau Femi, a former bank employee, were arrested by the EFCC for allegedly hacking into the system of a commercial bank and defrauding the institution of over N1.4bn.
The EFCC had on Tuesday also disclosed that it recovered N326m and $140,500 from Atumeyi during the sting operation at his hideout while $470, 000 was recovered from Abdulmalik in Lagos.
