Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has called for more dedication to the service of the people of the state.
A statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Ismail Isah, on Tuesday said Ododo made the call in Abuja in his reaction to Monday’s verdict of the state election petition tribunal which affirmed his victory.
He said the decision of the tribunal further affirmed Ododo’s conviction that God alone gives power to whomever He wishes at any point in time.
“The governor praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring the independence of the judiciary, stressing that the courts remain the hope of the common man and bastion of justice, equity and fairness that sustain democracy anywhere in the world,” Isah said.
Ododo was elected the fifth governor of Kogi state having scored 446, 237 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Muritala Ajaka of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), who scored 259, 052 votes in the November 11, 2023 governorship election.
After months of intense legal battles, the tribunal dismissed the petitions of Ajaka, Olayinka Braimoh of AA, and Abdullahi Yunusa of PRP, for lack of merit.
