A first class traditional ruler in Kogi state, Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir Maikarfi III, is dead.
He died on Wednesday evening in Abuja after a brief illness.
He was 80.
The deceased was the paramount ruler of Lokoja, the capital of Kogi state.
The secretary of Lokoja local government traditional council, Muhammed Nalado Usman, has confirmed the passing of the monarch Wednesday night in a terse statement.
The deceased is one of the longest serving traditional rulers in Kogi State having ascended the throne in 1992.
He said the monarch would be buried on Thursday around 4pm in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.
